Basics on Google Orkut 'updates from your friends'

The 'updates from your friends' section on your homepage shows updates when your friends on orkut:

  • make changes to their profile
  • accept new testimonials
  • make changes to their photo albums
  • update their status
  • change their video favorites
You can now comment on photos directly from your activity stream!

Similarly, when you make these changes to your own profile, your friends will see your updates on their homepages. You can control if you want others to see updates you've made.

You can choose to see updates from only certain groups of friends, here's how:

  1. Click settings on the sidebar of your profile.
  2. Select the general tab.
  3. Select the bubble labeled show updates from groups of my friends.
  4. Select the checkboxes next to the groups of friends you'd like to see updates from.
You can now comment on photos directly from your activity stream!

You can also remove the updates section from your profile entirely, just follow these steps:

  1. Click settings on the sidebar of your profile.
  2. Select the general tab.
  3. Select the bubble labeled don't show updates from my friends.
  4. save changes at the bottom of the page.

If you remove your updates section, you'll still be able to access it by clicking the updates button under your profile photo.
